About the Register

The New Cumnock Local Jobs and Business Register aims to maximise the use of local labour, suppliers and contractors. The Register will list and promote all local businesses that have the skills and experience to support the development of wind farm projects.

The Register makes it easier for developers and contractors involved in constructing and operating wind schemes to connect with local businesses and share job opportunities.

We want to create and sustain local employment and supplier opportunities. We also want to help the wider community benefit from the local economic boost created from the North Kyle development and other similar projects nearby

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the aim of the Register?

We want to help create and sustain local employment and supplier opportunities. We also want to help the wider community benefit from a local economic boost, created from the North Kyle development and other similar projects nearby.

The register is not restricted to the North Kyle Energy Project. It will also be available for supporting schemes. Any scheme can register for free.

We will use the register to inform the procurement and tendering process for the project – all supporting schemes will be encouraged to use local labour whenever possible.

Who can register? Where should I be based?

Locally based job seekers and contractors can sign up for alerts and updates. It is not just limited to those living in the New Cumnock area, but also includes neighbouring areas.

Is there a charge to register?

No – it is a free service for those wishing to register and for schemes wishing to register as supporters.

How do I register myself or my business?

You need to submit details about yourself or your company, please use the complete the registration form.

How did the Register begin?

The project was initially developed by Brockwell Energy Limited. They were formed in 2017 to raise investment capital to develop an £800 million portfolio of energy projects, predominantly in Scotland, on and around former coal mining and industrial sites.

Brockwell’s focus is on a range of renewable technologies, including Energy-from-Waste (EfW), solar photovoltaics and onshore wind. We are also keen to explore the investment opportunities around other exciting projects such as battery storage and other flexible generation assets to support the government’s drive towards a low-carbon economy. To find out more, please visit: www.brockwellenergy.com.

Who is managing the project?

The Register project set up was funded by Brockwell Energy, but is managed by the New Cumnock Development Trust.

What is the New Cumnock Development Trust?

The New Cumnock Development Trust (NCDT) was established in 2017 to help support and bring sustainable development to the community of New Cumnock. The Trust is a charity (no SC048761) and is managed by a board of trustees and supported by a team of two staff.

NCDT’s aim is to regenerate the town and create circumstances in which New Cumnock’s economy, social conditions and environmental quality can change for the better, all with a strong focus on sustainable development.  Trustees and staff work in partnership with the community and local organisations – supporting, co-ordinating and leading a range of projects and developments which deliver on the hopes and priorities of the people of New Cumnock.
